    Call the side of the square ‘x’.
    Connect two opposite corners of the square to form a hypotenuse. This also happens to be the diameter of the circle (draw it), or 6.
    To figure x, use the Pythagorean theorem – x^2 + x^2 = 6^2, or 2 * x^2 = 36, or x^2 = 18, solve for x and you get 4.24, then approximate to 4 and you can fit a 4×4 area in the circle formed by the barrel.
