          Most later commentaries reinterpret the Rambam (who days lo sasur means all drabans are d’orysa) to mean only specific instances.

        When we say Chazal had great insight, we really mean it. They were among the greatest thinkers of their time.

    I don’t understand the argument of having limited oil, do we light shabbat candles or do we light Chanukah candles. Are Shabbat candles a d’Oraisa (part of the d’Oraisa of Shabbat)? Or are they both d’Rabbanan?

    Maybe here is a source of lighting many candles for shabbat, as some do two plus one candle for each child.
